Welcome to the Nosy Be Archipelago! Upon arrival at Nosy Be Airport, you will be met and transferred by car to Hell-City, where you will continue by boat to Tsara Komba Lodge. You will spend the next three nights in Nosy Komba, the most beautiful island in the Nosy Be archipelago, also known as "Lemur Island". This eco-paradise describes its own atmosphere as ‘the life in the slow lane’ giving you the perfect opportunity to simply unwind and relax. The more active traveller can choose from a myriad of activities such scuba-diving, snorkelling, guided hikes as well as visitsto the local villages (all activities are optional and for clients own account). Equipment for snorkelling, beach volleyball, beach racket ball, badminton, frisbees or canoe trips, reading or parlour games is available free of charge in the main lodge or at the beach.

Andasibe Special Reserve
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of Tsara Komba hotel and transfer to the airport for your departing flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport & will head to Andasibe through the green and luxuriant vegetation of the east. This first step brings us to the humid part of the country with many primary forests and lakes, and the landscape consists of rice fields, waterfalls, and scarce forest stations. Along the way we will see villages of the Merina people scattered throughout the rocky mountainside. On arrival check-in to the hotel, and then after 19h00 enjoy a night walk in the area of Andasibe to observe night active lemurs and other nocturnal animals. Return to the hotel where we overnight. (If your flight means you arrive too late to partake in the night walk, it will be done on the next evening).

Perinet Special Reserve
After breakfast, we take a morning visit to the Special Reserve of Andasibe, where you will discover the many species dwelling in the forest. In particular, your guide will search for the Indri Indri, the largest lemurs on the island. This 810 ha reserve is unique with its endemic fauna and flora. It contains a wide variety of orchids, canopy, and endemic animals like chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds. We also visit the Orchid garden, after which we return to our hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the V.O.I.I.M.A community reserve. This reserve provides a sustainable way of saving the remaining rainforests in the area by creating a livelihood for the local communities through reforestation projects. Here you will also come across a variety of wildlife, ranging from brown lemurs, indri, chameleons, geckos and birds.

Antananarivo
After breakfast, we head back to Tana, stopping for lunch at the Reptile & Butterfly farm (lunch at own expense). The capital of Madagascar is also called the ‘City of Thousands’ and it is where the first King started to unify the different kingdoms of the island. Embark on a short city orientation tour. Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred back to Ivato airport for your two-hour flight to Fort Dauphin, on the south-eastern coast of Madagascar. Upon arrival you will be met by yourguide and will take lunch in Fort Dauphin, before driving west towards Antandroy Spiny Forest (Charter flight from Fort Dauphin is available at an additional cost). The three-hour journey offers a contrast of landscapes ranging from the rice paddies of the eastern seaboard over the lush tropical plateau to the drier arid region of sisal plantations and “spiny forest”. You will arrive at your luxury tented camp in the late afternoon, allowing you to settle into your accommodation and enjoy the breath-taking views across the Mandrare River.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast on the banks of the river, before embarking on a trip to the sacred Antandroy forest, crossing the river on foot to observe lemurs and many bird species. You will also be able to see the tombs of the Antandroy ancestors, and your guide will explain the culture of ancestor worship in detail. Lunch will be served at your camp, and there will be time to relax before you depart on an afternoon activity, unless you would prefer to rest at camp and enjoy the serenity of the river. Some of the activity options include a trip to the giant sand dunes of Lake Anony, watching the sun set at the baobabs, night walks (gallery and spiny forest), watching various species of lemurs and birds, watching traditional dancers, and a visit to the village or local school.

Today will be spent enjoying the various activities located at and around your luxury tented accommodation. These will be on suggestion of your guide, tailored to your interests. Activities from the camp take place in the early mornings and late afternoons and evenings to avoid the heat of the day. There are a number of designated forest areas in close proximity to the camp, where, with permission from and being accompanied by one of the local village chiefs it is possible to explore, together with your guide, this unique and fascinating natural paradise.

End of Tour
You will drive back to Fort Dauphin and continue to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo, where you will continue your onward journey home.
