Today, prepare for a morning adventure as a Maasai man leads you on a guided walk along the shores of Lake Natron to observe the lesser flamingos. Lake Natron is a crucial breeding site for these flamingos in East Africa, and during the breeding season, it can host up to 2.5 million of them. The main breeding period occurs from September to January, with the peak taking place between October and early December. Due to the lake's highly alkaline waters, there are limited bird species present apart from the flamingos.
Around midday, you'll depart from Lake Natron and head to Karatu. This drive can last up to 4 hours, offering a chance to witness the ever-changing landscapes of Tanzania. The arid and dry scenery will gradually give way to the greener and more lush surroundings of the Rift Valley.
