Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve for an Overnight Stay

We depart at 7:30am for Masai Mara, a four to five-hour trip. Just past Nairobi suburbs, you get breathtaking views from a vantage viewpoint. Below, the Great Rift Valley floor beckons, a historic geological feature spreading through East Africa towards the south. After some photo opportunities and lecture notes from your driver guide, we will continue the journey, passing through Narok Town and into the Masai Mara. The road network to the Mara is navigable in a 4x4 safari vehicle.

Arrive at Drunken Elephant Mara around noon, check in, then have lunch as you sample the chef's special. After lunch, have a brief rest and freshen up before heading out on an afternoon game drive. The game drive will last until late afternoon (6:00pm) when the park's wardens require the animals to be left to privacy and for safety concerns.

Just before or after dinner, you may indulge in a sundowner (payable as you drink). Your dinner and overnight stay are at Drunken Elephant Mara.

Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi

On this day, you will wake up for an early morning game drive to catch the animal kingdoms' early birds—literally and figuratively in their element. With some luck and the eyes of our experienced guides, you may witness an early morning kill by the bigger cats. Later, return to the lodge for a well-deserved breakfast, then check out before 10:00am for your onward journey back to Nairobi.

En route, there will be rest stops and photo opportunities as you meander through the scenic Narok-Nairobi road. Just outside the Masai Mara, we will make a scheduled stop at a Masai village- where you can interact with the Mara's host community, experience their authentic culture, and even buy their handcrafted fashion accessories.

You will arrive in Nairobi around 3:00pm, and your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel, airport, or other place of stay, marking the end of a simplistic yet indulging safari.
