In the morning after breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive to Nyerere National Park. You will have lunch on the way and the journey will take around 5 hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. The afternoon boat trip leaves camp at 4:00 p.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m. It is an ideal trip if you would like to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rufiji River with many hippos, crocodiles, and beautiful birdlife. The sunset can also be stunning from the boat. There is nothing quite like the serenity of the river while the sun dips below the horizon.
The Rufiji is a large wide river with several lakes branching off it for you to explore, gaining a unique view of the river’s largest inhabitants (crocodiles and hippos). Boat safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiasts. The park has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment.
