Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary
Following an early morning breakfast, set off for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, situated in Nakasongola. It stands as the exclusive location in Uganda for tracking southern white rhinos. Remarkably, both black and northern white rhinos were declared extinct in Uganda in 1983. The NGO Rhino Fund Uganda has been tirelessly working to reintroduce rhinos to the country through a breeding and release initiative. The initial group of six rhinos, four from Kenya and two from the USA, was translocated in 2005-06. It took five years before the first healthy calf, named "Obama," was born, marking the initial rhino birth in Uganda in nearly three decades. With an expert guide leading the way, you will track rhinos on foot and once you find them, spend at least an hour observing them and following them around.
Following the rhino tracking adventure, the journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park.
