We will arrange a morning transfer to Wilson Airport where you'll to catch a 45-minute flight to Masai Mara. Your Maasai guide will meet you at the airstrip and transfer you to Basecamp Mara. Settle in, ac;climatize and have lunch in readiness for your maiden game drive.

Basecamp Masai Mara sits on a picturesque bend along the Talek River in one of the most game-rich areas of the Masai Mara Reserve. You'll enjoy lunch and make plans to settle in for the rest of the afternoon.

Your late afternoon will be spent exploring the reserve in 4×4 open land cruisers as you marvel at the area’s wildlife and views.

Exploring Masai Mara National Reserve-Thrills of the African Savanna

You have the option of enjoying morning and afternoon safari activities. Usually, safari activities here start at around 6 am – with a packed picnic breakfast, then return mid-morning for lunch and siesta before going out again for another game drive in the afternoon.

The open rolling savannah grassland of the Mara is home to numerous wildlife species, including elephants, rhinos, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, jackals, buffalos, elands, topis, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, and zebras.

You'll wind up your day watching the sunset over Mara plains with a Basecamp sundowner.

At camp, dinner is served in the restaurant, and you will be treated to stories of the bush around the campfire.

Wake up to a sizzling breakfast with a cup of hot, authentically African coffee.

Head out on a camp walk and visit some of the community projects supported by Basecamp, including the Enjoolata Awareness Center, where guests are invited to an exciting immersive experience about the Maasai Culture. The center houses various facilities, including exhibition halls, video editing rooms, a library, and the Basecamp Masai Brand Workshop dedicated to showcasing the rich blend of the Maasai culture and enhancing the safari experience for guests.

While here, you are welcome to explore and purchase handcrafted Maasai products such as beads, necklaces, leather belts, e.t.c. You'll learn about Basecamp’s reforestation project that is intended to re-wild the Mara. We encourage our guests to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint by planting a tree at a minimal fee.

After a hearty breakfast, you'll join your guide for a bird-walking safari. Our birders will help you naviagate the colourful world of birds with over 400 species known to exist in the Greater Masai Mara.

In the afternoon, you'll depart to Saruni Leopard Hill, a new luxury camp in the Base Explorer portfolio newest camp in Mara Naboisho Conservancy. The camp has an adjustable motorized roof, which provides an unhindered view of the African night sky. You'll enjoy dinner at your choice of venue, and you can end your day storytelling at your private campfire place.

You'll fall asleep to the sounds of an African lion roaring, or to a lone hyena's cry.

You'll wake up at dawn to an array of optional safari activities, including morning yoga, early morning and afternoon game drives from the camp, short walking safaris, night game drives, and sundowners out in the bush. The camp is situated in a private conservancy. The number of camps and vehicles here is strictly limited, offering an exclusive safari experience.

During your evening game drive, you'll enjoy the safari ritual of sundowner drinks as the dusk gently deepens around you, and the sun sinks slowly over the Mara plains.

Today is your last day on safari. Enjoy it as you, please. Request a massage as you relax or enjoy some downtime while reading a book as you watch out for exciting sights straight from the camp, so use the binoculars provided.

Gather your things before heading for lunch. After lunch, you'll say your goodbyes and your guide will drive you to the airstrip. You'll arrive at the airstrip in time to catch your flight to Nairobi for your international departure or overnight stay in Nairobi and the conclusion of your incredible safari adventure!
