Once everything is prepared and picked your adventure will begin; after a few minutes, you will be deep within the forest with ancient trees, ferns, mosses, and black and white colobus monkeys frolicking in the treetops. After 5 – 6 hours you will reach – Machame Camp –situated just above the forest line at 3000 m. Arriving here, the porters have already set up your tents and warm water for washing is ready.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp
After an early morning start, the path steepens and the vegetation changes into a moorland with shrubs such as hardy Ericas. Today’s stage is shorter than the previous day, and by mid-afternoon, you will arrive at the campsite at the Shira Plateau. From the camp, you will have breathtaking views of the mountain and the evening light on the rock face and glacier of Kibo as the sun sets.
Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Trek from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp involves a day of ups and downs. You will ascend almost 700 meters but then descend after reaching the imposing Lava Tower at 4640 meters, aiding in acclimatization as you hit over 4500 meters. Moving through different vegetation zones, the path traverses the Barranco Valley dotted with unique Dendrosenecio. After 6-7 hours, you'll reach the beautiful Barranco Camp, located just below the impressive Barranco Wall. Take time to rest and refuel tonight.

Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Journey from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp starts with the thrilling challenge of scaling the Barranco Wall. While it may seem daunting, using your hands and feet ensures a safe climb. The trail then leads through various up and down sections, crossing streams and winding paths. Midday, you'll stop for lunch in the Karanga Valley, enjoying its scenic beauty. After lunch, a final 2-3 hour ascent brings you to Barafu Camp at 4640 meters, where you'll prepare for tomorrow's summit trek. Stay hydrated, eat well, and get plenty of rest tonight.
Mweka Camp (3080 m) – Mweka Gate (1630 m) – Moshi
Summit Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp starts in the midnight hours with a cup of tea and a biscuit. Dressed warmly and geared with a headlight and your day pack, you set off in the darkness. After 5-7 hours of ‘pole pole’, you will reach Stella Point, the rim of the crater. From here, it's another one to two hours of going slowly along the crater’s edge to arrive at the summit – Uhuru Peak at 5895 meters. Standing at the Roof of Africa, you'll look down over the surrounding landscape in the early morning light. The descent to Barafu Camp should be easy but dusty due to the defrosted volcanic ash. After a short rest at Barafu Camp, you'll continue down to Mweka Camp at 3080 meters for your overnight stay.

Mweka Gate (1630 m) – Moshi
Final Descent to Mweka Gate marks the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure. After breakfast, you will continue the descent to Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, the trail can be wet and muddy, so using gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and T-shirts are usually sufficient, but keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy for unexpected weather changes. Once you reach Mweka Gate, our vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi, a trip that takes about 60 minutes.
