Day 1

Karibu! Welcome to Tanzania! Your international flight will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, home to the ‘The Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro. After clearing immigration and collecting your luggage, you’ll be met by your driver who will be waiting for you at arrivals. You will then be driven to your accommodation Chanya Lodge for your first night.

Day 2

Local Tour

Local Tour

After breakfast, you will be met by Massawe Adventures staff with a private vehicle and taken to the beautiful Materuni waterfalls. Materuni Waterfall is a booming waterfall just 15-kilometers from Moshi Town. En route to the waterfalls, we will stop for a coffee tour in the village, where you will have the opportunity to observe the process of making that beloved cup of coffee from the coffee bean. After the visit to the coffee plantation village, you will be served a delicious lunch made from local produce, before heading off to explore the massive Materuni waterfalls
This excursion makes for a perfect day trip to climatize with the weather before starting your safari adventure. With about eight kilometers of walking throughout the day and 300 meters of incline, this adventure is a great warm-up for the legs while also getting to immerse yourself in the local culture.
At the end of the trip you will be driven back to Chanya Lodge.

Day 3

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

Your adventure begins with a morning departure for the Tarangire National Park – the sixth-largest national park in Tanzania. Here, you will have the opportunity to spend the afternoon spotting wildlife in a quieter location due to the lower count of visitors, but don't be fooled by the numbers because over 545 species of wild animals have been spotted at Tarangire National Park

Witness majestic herds of Elephants playing and bathing in the Tarangire River, and spot Giraffes, Buffalos, Gazelles, and Zebras in their natural habitat - an unforgettable sight that will replay in your mind's eye for a lifetime.

At end of the day's adventure, you will be driven to Tarangire Simba Lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 4

Lake Manyara

Your day will start with an early morning departure for Lake Manyara National Park where you will explore a wealth of habitats, from swamps and the tranquil lake to the mountainous escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. With its location at the base of the East African rift valley along the Gregory rift, it offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment. Lake Manyara National Park is described as one of the hidden gems of Tanzania, and it is also famous for its tree-climbing lions and large herds of elephants (The Elephants are not shy of tourists). After the safari, the adventure continues onto the Ngorongoro Crater for an overnight stay at Pembeni Africa.

Ngorongoro Crater

An early drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Descending the winding roads into the epic caldera – a wonderful haven for wildlife. Ngorongoro crater, also known as the Eden of Africa, is a unique wildlife haven due to the fact that almost all kinds of wildlife permanently lives within the crater walls. Rhino, in particular, can be seen regularly as well as prides of lions and other predators like cheetah. Enjoy a full day of wildlife spotting in scenic location.

You will be spending the night at Rhino Lodge.

Day six will have you attending a morning walking safari along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will have the wonderful opportunity to see smaller animals, birds and a range of local flora and fauna, along with fantastic awe-inspiring views of the crater. Binoculars are a must as you could spot rhinos and buffaloes hundreds of metres below. After lunch your drive back to Moshi begins. You will be spending the night in Rhino Lodge.

Day 7

Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi is home to the hunter-gather ethnic group of the Hadzabe Bushmen (they have similar characteristics to the Kalahari Bushmen or San people of Southern Africa). This indigenous tribe is probably one of the last that live in true harmony with nature. They are also well known for their “click” language. You will be given the opportunity to hunt with them and experience their way of life. You will be spending the night at Chanya Lodge.

Travel to West Kilimanjaro to explore a choice of experiences, suitable for a day excursion or a longer overnight stay in West Kilimanjaro.
Each cultural experience offers a different learning opportunity and each has its own unique flavour. You will be taken to
Olpopongi (Maasai Cultural Village & Museum) opportunity to experience historical Maasai traditions. Your travel planner will be happy with assisting you when it comes to explaining what involves each activity so that you will be sure to have chosen the experience you would personally enjoy the most.

On the final day of the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the city to gather souvenirs and try out experiences before the trip commences home. We are happy to advise the various activities available that may be of interest, depending on how you'd like to spend the remainder of your time in the town (we'd always recommend exploring the food stalls and local markets to pick up authentic Tanzanian art and handcrafted items).
