During the dry season, huge masses of animals stream into the park for its perennial water supply. Other animals that can be found in Tarangire National Park include fringe-eared oryx, wild dogs, lesser kudu, zebras, migratory wildebeest, elands, gazelles, impalas, kudu, rhinos, hartebeests, buffalos and other small mammals. The combination of volcanic soils combined with the ecological impact of the migration results in one of the most productive ecosystems on earth, sustaining the largest number of ungulates and the highest concentration of large predators in the world.
