Cape Town and Cape Point
You will be departing (from City Lodge V&A Waterfront), after a tour briefing, from Cape Town at 8:00 a.m. You will visit Hout Bay harbor en route to Cape Point Nature Reserve and then the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach. You will sample some of Cape Town’s culinary wonders at a local restaurant in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (own expense).

Cederberg Wilderness Area
The Cederberg is a massive rocky wilderness where giant sandstone boulders have been sculpted by wind and rain into bizarre and artistic shapes. In the afternoon, you will explore the rugged landscape on foot.
An essential part of your safari is some participation. From putting up your tent to packing the truck in the morning – it’s all part of your adventure. There are some long travel days which means early morning starts so you all need to get involved to make the day run efficiently. Your tour leaders will do all the meal preparation but we ask you to help (on rotation) with the washing up.

Gariep River
You will make your way into the more arid regions upon entering Namibia. You will camp at the Gariep River. After setting up camp for the night there is some free time for swimming and relaxing. Alternatively, you can adventure down the river in canoes (own expense).

Fish River Canyon
You will make your way to Fish River Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the world. In the afternoon, you will watch as a spectacular sunset slips over the canyon’s rim. The campsite, like most of them on this trip, has good ablution facilities with hot showers, a swimming pool, and a shop.

Namib Desert
Towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei form the gateway into the Namib Desert. You will walk to Sossusvlei, explore Sesriem Canyon, and watch dramatic sunsets over the world’s highest sand dunes.
Day 6: On arrival at Sossusvlei, the guide will walk with the group into Sossusvlei (+/- 3.5km). For those who do not want to walk, there are 4WD vehicles that can drive you in. The 4WD is an own expense (+/- N$85 each way) and is optional.

Swakopmund
Lunar landscapes surround the coastal town of Swakopmund as you approach the coast. The next days are free to explore the town or try dune boarding or sea kayaking (own expense).
You will enjoy evening restaurant meals (own expense). A host of optional activities are available in the adventure capital of Namibia - sandboarding, skydiving, ocean canoe safari, scenic flights, and many more.
Note: Only day 7 lunch is included, on day 8 it is an own expense meal.

Spitzkoppe
Beautiful desert landscapes. You will move north along the arid coast to the Cape Cross seal colony before heading inland to set up camp under the Spitzkoppe, huge granite domes rising out of the desert. You will enjoy a magnificent sunset. You’ll take a short walk to explore the area.

Ugab Wilderness
Our next stop is the Brandberg, the highest mountain in Namibia. Here you will camp next to the dry Ugab River, home to the rare desert elephants. You will explore the mountains on foot with our local guides, who lead you through this region adorned with San rock art.

Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park, “the great white place of dry water”, in the game-rich northwest corner of Namibia offers a variety of wildlife. You will take game drives around the huge dry pan to find the elephants, herds of antelope, and lions around the waterholes before you camp at Okaukuejo with its flood-lit waterhole. (Subject to animal movements we may use any of the 3 camps in Etosha.).

Windhoek
The charm of the city of Windhoek lies in its harmonious blend of African and European cultures and the friendliness of its people. You will arrive late in the day and enjoy a restaurant meal (own expense). On your final evening, you will spend time reflecting on the wonders of the Cape Town to Windhoek journey.
