Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will depart for Masai Mara at 6:00am, stopping at the famous Great Rift Valley and Narok town. Masai Mara is one of the few places left on Earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and attendant predators. You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in, have lunch, and then have an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay are at Sentrim Mara Camp.

Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will have a full-day game drive with a packed lunch provided. The reserve is well-known for its black-manned lion and its abundant resident wildlife. It is also one of the few places on Earth where it is possible to see the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle and climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey.

For the bird enthusiast, almost 500 species have been recorded: 16 species of eagle, many hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four species of bustard (including the kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and nine species of sunbirds.

Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi

Have a morning game drive in the Mara before departing to Nairobi. By 10:00am, you should be out of the park gate to avoid being charged an extra USD100 for low season and USD200 for high season for park fees. You will arrive at about 5:00pm with drop off at the airport or hotel.

Please note that you can substitute the early morning game drive with a visit to a Masai village at an extra cost of USD30 per person or a hot air balloon ride at USD505 per person.
