Lake Manyara National Park
On day two of your adventure, you will be taken to one of the hidden gems of Tanzania: Lake Manyara, where you will have a full-day game drive.
As you travel to your destination, you'll have a beautiful, short journey across the Great Rift Valley. Although small in dimension (205 sq miles), Lake Manyara is an extraordinary location to see much-loved wild animals in principal view. Famous for tree-climbing lions while large herds of elephants are known to greet tourists in spectacular fashion.
From swamps and the serene lake to the mountainous escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, there are a wealth of habitats to explore. Lake Manyara National Park is located at the base of the East African Rift Valley, parallel to the Gregory Rift. Subsequently, the national park offers spectacular viewing of the escarpment; a magnificent sight to behold.
After the safari, the adventure continues onto Karatu, situated on the safari circuit, for an overnight stay at Pembeni Rhotia.

Serengeti National Park
Day three is another early start that will see you drive to one of the most famous National Parks in Africa, the Serengeti. If visiting Tanzania has been on your bucket list, it's likely that images of the Serengeti have unintentionally been at the forefront of your mind, as these are the scenes that often define Tanzania.
Home to millions of wildebeest during the migration, and large cats across legendary grasslands, the iconic Serengeti is a wonderful destination to view these fantastic animals in their prime habitats. There are few places in the world that are home to such a natural splendour; it is magnificent having this particular possibility.
You will enjoy a magnificent afternoon safari before having dinner and settling for the night at the Mara Under Canvas Tented Camp for a unique evening sleeping in the heart of the Serengeti.
Authentic experiences like this are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that our guests remember, cherish, and speak of for a lifetime to come.

Days four and five of the Tour will allow you to fully experience Serengeti however you’d like!
At Massawe Adventures, we like to ensure that each group we take out on tour is given the opportunity to decide what it is they'd like to get out of their safari.
With that in mind, you can break your day into morning and afternoon safaris, allowing our team to advise the best spots for wildlife spotting (depending on what it is you'd like to see). Or, you can take a picnic along with you for a jam-packed day of independent adventuring. The Serengeti is vast, which is why it is such a celebrated spot for safaris. From African plains to remote game reserves, the diverse landscapes lend themselves to a memorable few days on safari. However you decide to adventure with us, we can help you get the most out of your experience.
Both nights will be spent at the Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge (Central Serengeti) - one of the most intimate wildlife accommodation sites Tanzania has to offer.

Serengeti Park to Ngorongoro Crater
With so much to experience in Serengeti, we will spend another morning on safari!
The Serengeti is renowned for its big cat sightings. On this particular safari outing, you will have the chance to see the cheetahs prowling the savannah and elusive leopards escaping the heat of the day in the acacia trees. The big cats in Tanzania love to play hide and seek; their ability to camouflage is extraordinary, but when they're on the move, their elegant stride is remarkable to witness. By designating this time to exploring their habitat, we increase the chance of sighting them amongst other wildlife highlights in the Serengeti (we often advise guests to look up, as you never know what you will spot next).
Serengeti is one of the most beautiful locations that we are privileged to tour, and we can’t wait to share the experience with you before driving to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater.
Having arrived at the Ngorongoro Crater, you will spend an unforgettable night at The Rhino Lodge.

Ngorongoro Crater
The day will begin with an early morning game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. With views over the largest intact volcanic caldera (the structure left behind following a volcanic eruption), the sheer size of the crater makes it difficult to comprehend the height of the towering walls, but the wind and clouds are the clearest indicators.
Home to a concentrated population of wildlife consisting of an estimated 30,000 animals (including The Big Five) the Ngorongoro Crater is an essential part of the Serengeti's ecosystem. The rim of the crater sits around 610 metres (2,001 feet) above the crater floor, and you’ll begin your descent to view zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and lion - potentially even the critically endangered black rhino.
We will then have a picnic lunch near the Hippo Lake before heading back out on safari and ascending the crater to exit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards Lake Eyasi, stopping at the Rhino Lodge overnight.

Lake Eyasi and the Hadzabe Tribe
Day Eight features a trip to Lake Eyasi.
Lake Eyasi is a sight in itself! The endorheic, shallow, seasonal saltwater lake is the largest body of water in the Arusha region. The dramatically changing water levels encourage a biodiverse range of birdlife including flamingos, great-white pelicans and African spoonbills, amongst a varied collection of fish. Believed to be one of Africa's oldest lakes, the history and heritage of Lake Eyasi are worth acknowledging and appreciating when we get the chance to visit.
Lake Eyasi is also home to the hunter-gather ethnic group – Hadzabe Bushmen (they have similar characteristics to the Kalahari Bushmen or San people of Southern Africa). Well known for their “click” language, this Tanzanian indigenous tribe is probably one of the last that live in true harmony with nature – their extensive knowledge of the natural world virtually unrivalled. You will be given the rare opportunity to hunt alongside Hadzabe Bushmen and experience their way of life.
