Day 1

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park

Today’s expedition starts after breakfast as you proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. This park offers scenic woodland, grassland and swamps. Flamingoes are one of the park’s highlights, along with more than 350 other bird species. With the excellent guidance of your Nature in Spirit Travel guide and the nature of the game, it won’t be uncommon to spot the tree-climbing lions on the branches of the trees.

Though small, the park is among the most beautiful places in Africa and is noted for its good number of buffalos, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos and many species of smaller animals. You will have lunch in the middle of the park at the picnic site and then continue touring this park marked off by lush green vegetation. The tall trees of the groundwater forest are home to troops of baboons and blue monkeys.

In the late afternoon when you’re done with the game viewing, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, set off with a perfectly packed lunch hamper for a full-day crater tour. This is a unique game drive in the spectacular self-contained ecosystem of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is famously dubbed the “8th Natural Wonder of the World”. It is believed that the Ngorongoro Crater was once a mountain almost as high as Mount Kilimanjaro and that it collapsed due to volcanic forces forming the current crater (caldera).

Descending the crater which spreads for 102 square miles with 2,000-feet-high walls, will reward you with stunning wildlife viewing. In fact, Ngorongoro is one of the few locations where you can see the endangered black rhinos. You will have lunch at the hippo pool and then continue with the game drive. Drive to Lake Magadi where you will most likely see a mass of pink flamingos, hippos and a variety of other bird species.

Tarangire National Park to Arusha City

After breakfast, you will leave the lodge and drive toward Tarangire, Tanzania's second-largest national park, for a full-day game drive. On the way, you will get another sneak preview of the life of Tanzanians as they continue with their day-to-day activities alongside the road. When you get to the park, you will be welcomed by Tarangire’s ancient baobab trees believed to be over 1,000 years old. These common trees dot the whole park, giving unique game-viewing spots and photographing opportunities.

You will drive to the Tarangire River, the main source of water in the park which tends to draw a lot of wildlife and offers a good opportunity to spot various bird species. After lunch at one of the picnic sites, continue to different locations in the park, seeking more game-viewing opportunities.

Before sunset, you will head to Arusha for drop-off at your hotel.
