Travel to Akagera National Park

Early wake up call and depart to the East of the country to reach Akagera National Park.

Arrive at the luxury Magashi Camp and relax before the afternoon game activity. Back at the lodge on time for dinner and night.

Everything about Magashi is a thrilling quest. Watch elephants, near camp, submerge in the lake’s silvery blue waters. Drive across miles of open savannah tracking rhinos, giraffes and lions. Try your hand at catch-and-release fishing, watched by a shy sitatunga. And listen to the stories of the land during a traditional Kugisha supper around a roaring fire with friends old and new.

Early departure today to reach the mountainous region and gorilla territory.

You will arrive at the lodge late afternoon and have time to freshen up before dinner.

Gorilla Trekking at Volcanoes National Park

This morning you will depart early to the park headquarters for a briefing. Once you are briefed on the gorilla family your group is trekking (small group per tracker), you'll walk through the tropical rainforest in search of the mountain gorillas. You may find them doing their daily chores of feeding their young ones, climbing trees, and just relaxing. You will have about 1 hour with the gorillas, and then return to the headquarters. You'll transfer back to the lodge in time for a late lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure to relax. It is possible to hike around the lodge or chat with your guide if you would like to book a cultural activity (not included). Your dinner and an overnight stay will be at the lodge.
