Day 1

Southern Serengeti

Southern Serengeti

Our guided game drive this morning in Southern Serengeti National Park will be a highlight of your safari thanks to our expert guide.
Your safari will begin with a pick-up from your hotel at Arusha and head towards the Ndutu region. Once you reach Ndutu, you will begin a half-day game drive with a convenient stop for your picnic lunch. Ndutu forms part of the route for the annual migration of more than 2 million wildebeests and thousands of zebras, antelopes, and gazelles.

During game drives at the right season between December and April, you will be able to see the fertile plains turn into calving grounds and nurseries for the great migration. This season attracts hordes of predators prying on vulnerable young wildebeests.
Crested with Ndutu Lake and Lake Masek, these waterholes offer plenty of wildlife game during the dry season..
Ensure you get some good rest and recharge yourself for another eventful day.

You must also look out for the Serengeti kopjes, massive boulders of granite standing in a sea of grass. They provide ample shelter to a large variety of flora and fauna. The Empakaai elevation is approximately 3,200m above sea level on the western side and 2,590m above sea level on the eastern side. It is always shrouded in mist due to its high altitude, and the lake appears emerald or deep blue.

Empakaai crater is popular for walking safaris, wherein tourists hike for about one hour and walk back for about two and a half hours, depending on personal fitness. Visitors can explore the lake and the dense rainforest inside and around it near the floor. As part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Empakaai crater shares a substantial percentage of wildlife, providing a higher possibility to spot some of the Big Five, particularly leopards, lions, elephants and buffaloes.

Ngorongoro Crater

You'll spend the best part of a day exploring Ngorongoro Crater on your guided game drive. There's always lots of wildlife to see, and this could include lions, hyenas and black rhinos.
On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 am into the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260sq km with a depth of over 2000 feet.

The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. African elephants, buffalos, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions are found in plenty. You will have the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, and begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater.
