Nairobi - Amboseli National Park

You will be driven to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch. You can spend the afternoon at leisure. In the late afternoon, you will go for your first game drive. The park is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging African elephants and other wildlife species including wildbeasts, buffalos, giraffes, zebras and hippos. The ecosystem is mainly savannah grassland spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border. Other attractions of the park include opportunities to meet the Masai at an extra cost and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak and free-standing Mountain in the world. Even though the majestic Kilimanjaro is located in Tanzania, the best view of it is in Amboseli National Park, strategically located at the foot of the mountain. From the prehistoric site of Observation Hill, the sunset over Mount Kilimanjaro is magnificent. You will spend your night at the lodge.

Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow-barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree. These forests abound with bird life which makes Naivasha a world-class birding destination. In addition, the lakes waters draw a great range of wildlife to its shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, buffalos wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows.
