Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve

You will be picked up from the airport or hotel for an early morning drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. It is one of the few places on earth where wildlife still lives and roams the plains and forests of Africa relatively undisturbed. At the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and attendant predators. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, we will have a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions and its abundant resident wildlife. Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the few places where it is possible to see all members of the Big Five during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so tame that they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle, and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey! For the bird enthusiast, almost 500 species have been recorded: among these, 16 species of eagle, plus many hawks and falcons, six species of vultures, eight species of storks, four of bustards (including the kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and nine species of sunbirds.

Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi

We will wake up at 6:00am for a sunrise game drive. At 9:00am, we will drive back to the hotel for breakfast and then depart for Nairobi. We will enjoy lunch en route and arrive in Nairobi late in the afternoon.
