Welcome to Namibia! After a (hopefully) relaxed flight, you have arrived in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. You will be transferred to the car-rental company to receive your rental car. After a detailed briefing, it's finally time to get started. After arrival at tonight's accommodation, you should go out and explore Windhoek. The Independence Museum has a café on top, which offers amazing views of the city and the beautiful Christus Church. The night can be spent at Joe's Beerhouse, an iconic restaurant and bar in the heart of Windhoek.

Day 2

Drive to Etosha National Park

Drive to Etosha National Park

Today you will drive to the north and start your trip off with a drive toward Etosha National Park. On the almost 4-hour drive, you can stop in Otjiwarongo for coffee and snacks. The Bohemia Book Shop Café is recommended, they offer sandwiches and cake in a cozy atmosphere. If you arrive early enough, you could even spend this afternoon in Etosha National Park.

Etosha National Park sets the scene for Namibia’s foremost wildlife showcase. Here, a series of waterholes guarantee spectacular game viewing, flanked by mystical, open grasslands along the edges of the inhospitable Etosha Pan.

Explore Etosha National Park

Today is spent on a self-drive safari! It is recommended to start early in the morning to have the best chance to spot animals just after sunrise. With a bit of luck, you might be able to see lions, hyenas, elephants, rhinos, and more today! The other animals of Etosha National Park should not be underestimated though. Huge herds of zebra, wildebeest, and springbok roam the area, coming surprisingly close to the safari cars. Should you prefer to be guided by a professional guide, it can be arranged at an additional cost.

Today, you can choose to drive to the Eastern part of Etosha. Eastern Etosha National Park is one of the quieter areas of the park where visitors are few, and game viewing is excellent! Expect typical Etosha landscapes of stark, white pans interspersed with patches of grassland. The scenery is breathtaking as herds of elephants frolic by the water, predators lurk in the distance and herds of antelope roam majestically through the landscape. For photographers, the park offers countless opportunities to take impressive pictures of wildlife and the landscape.

The evening can be spent in one of the numerous restaurants, such as "The Tug" or "Jetty 1905". Reservations are recommended for both restaurants. The iconic dunes and clay pans are a must on everyone’s bucket list. You will spend the next day in the Sossusvlei area and you can choose to explore the Namib Desert from above. Activities such as hot-air balloon rides and scenic flights to the dunes can be booked with us. As these flights are dependent on the weather, it is recommended to schedule these activities for the first day in Sossusvlei to be able to potentially reschedule if the weather conditions make it necessary.

Day 11

Incredible Sossusvlei

Today you will explore the Namib-Naukluft Park with the world-famous Sossusvlei and its high dunes, as well as the Sesriem Canyon. In the early morning, the lights and shadows at the dunes are amazing. The first stop should be Dune 45, where you can take beautiful pictures of the S-shaped dune with the perfect lighting. Later on, you can explore Deadvlei and Big Daddy, potentially the highest dune in the world. On the last 3 km toward Deadvlei, the road is made of relatively deep sand. If you are an experienced driver, adjust the tyre pressure and use a 4x4 to get to the parking. If you do not feel comfortable driving under these conditions, make use of the shuttle services available for this part.

Hiking up Big Mama and Big Daddy might take your breath away, but the mesmerizing views are definitely worth the sweat. Enjoy the day and wander around Deadvlei with its ancient trees. In the afternoon you can explore the Sesriem Canyon, naturally paved over millions of years.

Maintaining its German colonial character, this neat capital treats you to vibrant architecture, varied cuisine, and delicious Namibian beer. You can use the last day in Namibia to buy souvenirs, for example at the Craft Center in Windhoek, which offers not only unique souvenirs, but also a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful terrace with delicious cakes and other culinary delights.
