Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will receive a warm and gracious welcome from one of our highly skilled driver guides, who will be designated to accompany you to your prearranged hotel in Karatu Town. During the journey, should you possess the time and energy, there will be intermittent stops to acquaint you with the remarkable city and its surrounding environs. Our knowledgeable driver guide will take great pleasure in providing an introduction to this captivating destination and its rich cultural heritage.

Previously, the Karatu and OlDeani region held considerable significance under German colonial rule. Its temperate climate, lush hills, and picturesque landscapes have consistently appealed to both settlers and agriculturalists. Coffee emerged as the primary export crop, with a select number of privately-owned large farms continuing to cultivate this valuable commodity in the surrounding hills and valleys.

Day 2

Karatu – Ndutu (1 hours transfer)

After breakfast, our guide will pick you up and drive you to Ndutu, situated between Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, we’ll continue our game drive in search of the great wildebeest migration, which is primarily concentrated in Ndutu during this time.

Ndutu Area offers unparalleled wildlife viewing opportunities during the green season, typically spanning from December to March. Situated in the southern part of the Serengeti plains, Ndutu serves as a haven where approximately 8,000 wildebeest calves are born each day. The region is predominantly adorned with acacia tree forests, providing a picturesque backdrop. Moreover, Ndutu is renowned as the prime location for spotting six magnificent cat species: leopard, lion, cheetah, caracal, African wildcat, and Serval cat.

After breakfast, we will gather our lunch boxes and devote this day to observing and learning about the incredible survival strategies of animals in the wilderness during calving season. This time of year witnesses thousands of wildebeest giving birth to their young ones, making them vulnerable targets for deadly predators. We will have the opportunity to witness this natural phenomenon up close and gain valuable insights into the fascinating ways these animals adapt and thrive in such challenging conditions.

Following breakfast, your guide will accompany you to explore the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the esteemed wonders of Africa. This remarkable crater was formed through a massive volcanic eruption two million years ago. The rich lava soil has nurtured a distinctive ecosystem, resulting in the highest density of animals found across the entire African continent. After an exhilarating game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater, we will proceed to Karatu for a delightful dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.

Within the Ngorongoro Crater, you will have the opportunity to encounter numerous lion families, impressive herds of buffalos, elegant zebras, graceful wildebeests, and an array of other captivating species. Enjoy breakfast and gather your lunch boxes as we proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Today, you will have the chance to witness the breathtaking view of Lake Manyara, observe elephants up close in the woodlands, and visit the renowned Manyara hippo pool where numerous hippos reside from early morning until late evening. After the game drive, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your return flight home or to your next destination.

Lake Manyara National Park offers a magnificent view of the 400-meter-deep Great Rift Valley. This geological wonder, formed around 22 to 25 million years ago, stretches thousands of kilometers throughout East Africa. The valley's immense size allows it to be seen from outer space, and it boasts a variety of unique landscapes that attract a diverse range of animal species. Apart from Lake Manyara itself, the park is home to dense rainforests teeming with monkeys and a multitude of bird species.
