It is best known for its more than 5,000 recorded species of birds, including migrant flamingos and numerous water birds drawn to the park's alkaline lake, which covers a large portion of its area. Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater to Kilimanjaro Airport
After an early breakfast at the lodge, depart for a game drive on the Ngorongoro crater floor.
This long-extinct volcano is the world's largest intact caldera and is regarded as one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations on the planet. Diverse habitats, including permanent wetlands, shelter within its steep-sided walls, supporting an astonishing number of animals. Ngorongoro has long been home to a thriving population of big game species, including great-tusked elephants, healthy black rhinos, and the famous black-maned lions.
This is one of the few places in Africa where you can see the Big 5 on a single game drive, and there's plenty more to see. Gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra herds live here, as do smaller predators such as caracal and serval cats, as well as lions and their eternal adversaries, spotted hyenas.
After our enjoyable game, we ascend and drive to Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport for departure.
