Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Arusha - Tarangire National Park

After an early breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that courses through it. This river, referred to as the 'river of warthogs,' remains the sole water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The terrain features pockets of dense vegetation, comprising elephant grass and acacia woodlands.

Renowned for its elephant herds, the park often showcases these gentle giants congregating near the river. Other sightings might include giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, all of which attract a range of predators, including lions and leopards.

Notably, Tarangire boasts a richer variety of breeding bird species than anywhere else on Earth.

Following a packed lunch, we journey to our lodging at Eileen's Tree Inn or a similar establishment for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

Following an early breakfast, we embark on our journey to Ngorongoro Crater. At first sight, the crater presents a scene from a forgotten realm. Witness the opportunity to observe the endangered black rhino and thriving prides of lions.

This crater's formation dates back two to three million years, resulting from a colossal volcanic eruption followed by its implosion.

Descending into the crater is an adventure in itself, and upon reaching the floor, you find yourself surrounded by abundant wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 bird species. This unique environment grants the highest likelihood of encountering the elusive black rhino, occasionally glimpsed in the open grasslands.

After a packed lunch, we proceed to Serengeti National Park, where you'll spend the night at Embalakai Camp, indulging in dinner and settling in for the night.

Around 2:00 pm, we return to Karatu, reaching our carefully chosen mid-range lodge. Here, a well-appointed restaurant awaits for dinner, offering relaxation by the pool if desired.

You can unwind with a post-dinner drink by the fire beneath the expansive African sky before retiring to your spacious accommodations for a night of comfort and dreams, perhaps filled with visions of wild cats. Your overnight stay will be at Eileen's Tree Inn.

Day 5

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park

Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge. Shortly thereafter, we'll embark on a brief journey to Lake Manyara National Park. Situated just 120 km west of Arusha, Manyara is a compact yet diverse park, named after its shallow salt lake that encompasses around seventy percent of its expanse.

This soda lake, alternating between flooding and drying, becomes the habitat for thousands of flamingos and a stunning array of over 500 bird species. While exploring the park, anticipate sightings of monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and, if luck is on our side, even lions lazing in trees.

The park's allure lies in its diverse landscapes, encompassing open grassy plains, woodlands teeming with primates, and cliffs adorned with baobabs. After indulging in a packed lunch, we return to Arusha.

Our adventure concludes here, providing the perfect juncture for your journey back home or onward to Zanzibar, should your plans include it.
