Dar es salaam to Nyerere Park
In the morning, you'll take the speed boat from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam. A Kiliholidays driver guide will pick you up on arrival at the Port at 9:00 am and connect on safari to Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve. It will take between five and six hours, so you will have a hot lunch at Kibiti.
We should arrive at our accommodation, a short distance outside the main gate, by mid-afternoon. It is situated on the beautiful Rufiji River.
This evening, you'll be treated to a boat safari on the Rufiji, enjoying sightings of hippos and crocodiles as the sun sets. Keep an eye out for Angola Colobus and blue monkey on nearby trees, and perhaps even an elephant coming down to drink.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Mloka Safari Camp. The lodge has a private bathroom and toilet inside the room. Meal plan: Lunch and dinner.

Nyerere National Park
Today we will have a full-day game drive through Nyerere, seeking out some of this area's famous wildlife. Nyerere is perhaps best known for its herds of elephants. However, the population of elephants here has sadly dwindled due to unfettered poaching, and sightings are now uncommon. But we can expect to encounter large prides of lions lounging under palm trees, herds of buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests. Lucky visitors may even come across a pack of African wild dogs—they are most easily located at this time of year as they are more mobile after denning season.
Our destination today is Lake Tagalala, deep within the reserve, lions are common around the lake, as are spotted hyenas. Leopard sightings are unusual, but we stand a good chance with a little perseverance. Rarest of all are sightings of black rhinos, and with a big slice of luck, we may encounter this rare beast.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at Mloka Safari lodge.
