Day 1

Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport), you will be met by a Habitat Adventures Travel representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. Have an overnight stay and wait for your adventures to start the following day.

Day 2

Arusha to Tarangire National Park - approximately 130 km (92 mi) - 2 hrs drive

Early in the morning after breakfast, at around 8:00 am, you will have a short briefing before you depart to Tarangire National Park. The park with its endless tree savannah, including the impressive baobab trees and seasonal marshes, is also home to the largest population of elephants in Northern Tanzania. You are also likely to spot giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gnus and other types of antelopes and gazelles. Your guide will open the roof of the vehicle for excellent wildlife viewing.

A hot lunch will be served at around 12:30 pm at the picnic site whereafter you will continue to explore this incredible park. In the evening after your exploration, you will drive to your accommodation in the Karatu area for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Early in the morning after breakfast, at around 8:00 am, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and stop at a viewing point that has a built pavilion that provides a nearly 180° view of the Ngorongoro Crater. You will then descend into the crater which is 600m deep. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five. On reaching the crater’s edge, the 20km-diameter caldera opens up before you in all its stunning glory and you will descend into the crater on an adventurous trail.

This World Heritage Site is seasonally home to over 25,000 animals including a wide range of bird species, hyenas and the endangered black rhino. A hot lunch will be served at a picnic spot at the hippo pool. Later, you will drive to the heart of Serengeti National Park with an en-route drive to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Serengeti National Park to Karatu

Serengeti National Park to Karatu

Early in the morning, after breakfast at around 8:00 am, (or according to your preference,) you will continue exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park for a half-day game drive. The Serengeti National Park is home to the largest concentration of wildlife on the planet. The park offers a multitude of wildlife including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard). A hot lunch will be served inside the park at around 12:30 pm with some soft drinks and unlimited drinking water.

You will have a final game drive in the afternoon. At around 3 pm, you will drive to the gate and head for your accommodation in Karatu, passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park which is also known as the home of the tree-climbing lions and a bird paradise. More than 500 bird species are present in Lake Manyara, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these species in a single day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. Other animals that can be found here are giraffes, zebras, hyenas, buffalos, hippos, elephants and wildebeests. Lunch will be served inside the park. After some further exploration of the park, you will return to Arusha.
