Day 1

Your 10-day adventure begins with a 7 AM pickup from your Nairobi accommodation or the airport, setting off on a scenic journey to Samburu Game Reserve. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator line in Nanyuki where you can witness the fascinating phenomenon of water swirling in opposite directions on either side of the equator. Continue your drive to Samburu arriving at your lodge or camp in time for lunch.

Following a brief relaxation, embark on an evening game drive safari with our experienced guide. Explore the reserve's rugged terrain, Samburu Game Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife species that are not commonly found in other parts of Kenya, these include the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and gerenuk also known as the "giraffe gazelle." As the sun sets over the horizon, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest, recounting the day's thrilling encounters amidst the beauty of Samburu.

Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve

Wake up to the enchanting sounds of the bush as you prepare for a half-day game drive safari in Samburu Game Reserve after breakfast. Spend the morning exploring the reserve's diverse landscapes and encountering its resident wildlife with chances to spot the elusive leopard, Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. The reserve boasts breathtaking landscapes characterized by rugged mountains, acacia woodlands and meandering rivers such as the Ewaso Nyiro.

At 12PM, Return to your lodge or camp for a hearty lunch and some relaxation time amidst the serene surroundings. Later in the afternoon set out on another thrilling game drive safari, maximizing your chances of spotting wildlife as the day transitions into dusk. You will come across a variety of animals congregating along the riverbanks including elephants, hippos, crocodiles and numerous bird species. After breakfast, continue your journey as you depart Samburu with an enroute game drive as you head to the renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Enjoy lunch at the lodge or camp upon arrival, then take the afternoon to relax and immerse yourself in the tranquil ambiance of the conservancy. At 3 PM, set out for an evening game drive safari. The conservancy boasts a significant population of black rhinos making it one of the key sanctuaries for this critically endangered species.

Black rhinos are under constant threat from poaching for their horns but Ol Pejeta's intensive anti-poaching measures have helped protect and grow their numbers. Ol Pejeta is also a haven for the Big Five as well as other iconic African wildlife species. The conservancy is home to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary which provides a safe haven for rescued and orphaned chimpanzees. As the sun begins to set, return to your lodge for a sumptuous dinner and a restful night's sleep amidst the sounds of the African bush.

Upon arrival in Nakuru, check in for lunch and afternoon relaxation at your lodge before embarking on an evening game drive from 3PM with our experienced guide.
