Barafu Camp 4600 to Summit 5895M to Mweka Camp 3090M

We begin our ascent to the peak very early in the morning, at around midnight, hiking over steep scree up to Stella Point on the crater rim. The hardest portion of the walk both psychologically and physically is this.
We will take a brief break at Stella Point (5,732 m), where we aim to arrive in time to see the magnificent dawn. The highest peak of Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent, Uhuru Peak (5,895M), is now only an hour away.
After lunch, we make our way from the peak to Mweka Campsite through Barafu Camp. For the rough scree descending down to Mweka Camp (3,100), trekking poles will be required. We'll have our final meal in the mountains later that evening, and we'll at least get some well-deserved rest.

On the last day of the trek, we continue to descend 1,300 meters to the Mweka Park Gate, where you can pick up your summit certificates from the park headquarters. At lower elevations, it can be muddy and wet, so gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be enough to wear; keep rain gears and warm clothes nearby. From the gate, continue another hour to Mweka village, where you will meet our vehicle to be taken to the hotel in Moshi (about 30 minutes). Don’t forget to tip your guides and porters.
