Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park

In the morning, you depart from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park, stopping in Kibiti for a short break to have a hot lunch. The journey to Nyerere will take about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive for an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River.

A boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boats may approach elephant, waterbuck, and others on the riverbanks to within a few meters. Crocodiles glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippos appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Nyerere National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in a modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Experience great animal sightings including all the great favorites like lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and all the other major species including the now rare African wild dog. You will also see a large variety of birds and wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest, and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains.

In the afternoon, enjoy a packed lunch and have some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink. You will head back to the lodge in the evening for a delicious sunset dinner and then retire for the night.

Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam

Today is your departure day. An early tea or coffee will be served at the lodge before you head out to start the day on a game walk. Accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed ranger, walk out into Africa’s largest wilderness. You will learn about the complex ecosystem that it embraces, encounter the thrills, and be enthralled at the wonder of being at the heart of nature. Return to the lodge for a splendid breakfast after which we depart for Dar es Salaam. Your guide will drop you off at the hotel of your choice or the airport, ending your memorable safari with us.
