Mto wa Mbu Village Visit & Cultural Tour
Today, you'll drive to the small village of Mto wa Mbu, located beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. You'll enjoy a guided cultural tour of the village by visiting the banana and rice irrigation farms. Bustling with various cultures from around Tanzania, the little town of Mto wa Mbu lies at the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park. A local agricultural hub, the town is famous for its rice crops and the distinctive red bananas Tanzania is known for. A half-day tour of the town in the company of a local guide allows travellers to interact with local farmers, as well as artisans, craftsmen and painters.
Cultural diversity is seen in various entrepreneurial ways, including a farmer from Kigoma producing palm oil from palm trees that he purchased from the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The Rangi create colourful, beautiful mats and baskets using papyrus from the lakes and rivers.
After lunch, you will drive to Arusha.
