Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by one of our experienced driver guides, who are ready to greet you and escort you to Arusha and your chosen hotel. He will introduce you to this wonderful city and country.
After your long flight, you will be pleased to discover that Arusha – the undisputed safari capital of East Africa - is perched at 1,400 meters above sea level, keeping the temperatures and humidity relatively low. All around this important city are some of Tanzania’s greatest delights. Mount Meru towers above Arusha, while the distant Kilimanjaro can be seen on a clear day. Arusha provides the ideal starting point for safari lovers and is within reach of Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
The city has its own natural attraction, Arusha National Park, which is nearby. This busy agricultural, administrative and tourist center is the perfect place to relax after a long journey before you set off on safari, the holiday of a lifetime.

Tarangire National Park
Today, we set out early, collecting you from your Arusha hotel and heading south to stunning Tarangire National Park. We arrive at the picnic site by noon, in time for a pleasant lunch. Your afternoon game drive will reveal all the wonders of Tarangire, a national park often referred to as the "Elephant Playground". Herds of up to 300 of these mighty mammals are sometimes seen in the park.
In the Dry season, Tarangire easily rivals it for animal densities. In addition to the herds of elephants, Tarangire is home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, which are "local specialities." Lake Burungi’s marshy shores lure these mammals, and the waters attract many beautiful bird species. Look out for giant kingfishers, hoopoes and the delightfully named white-bellied go-away bird. Tarangire is noted for its splendid baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia woodland.
After an inspiring afternoon amongst the wildlife, we retire to the campsite for dinner and some rest.

Lake Eyasi
Today, you will drive to Lake Eyasi, which you will reach in the afternoon. You will enjoy and relax at the luxury camp, whether in the swimming pool or at the bar lounge. It is truly worth being there with natural settings. In the evening, you will go for a walk at the lake, where you will see a lot of flamingos and hippos. Your local guide will be happy to explain everything to you.
Lake Eyasi is a seasonal shallow salt lake on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. It is in northern Tanzania, south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. You will have plenty of time to enjoy this tranquil environment and absorb its natural setting. This large lake lies high above sea level. In contrast to the savannah and arid plains of northern national parks, Lake Eyasi offers tall palm trees along its shores, which provide shelter for flamingoes and hippos.

Lake Eyasi to Karatu
Before setting off to the Karatu region early in the morning, you will drive to the Hadzabe Bushmen who live around the lake. They are among the few remaining tribes that still live the same way they did hundreds of years ago. A visit with the Bushmen is worthwhile! They subsist entirely in the bush and by bow hunting. The Hadzabe Bushmen are one of the last remaining hunter-gatherers in Africa and live solely on the land, just as in the Stone Age, as our ancestors did for thousands of years.

Ngorongoro Crater
Before your thoughts turn to home, visit the Ngorongoro Crater. It is often referred to as a wonder of the world, and your early morning game drive will show you why.
First, there’s the volcanic caldera (the world’s largest), full of grassland, forest and swamp, a setting of jaw-dropping beauty. Secondly, the permanent water of the crater floor supports a resident population of more than 25,000 large mammals. Here, you’ll find many reasons you chose to come on safari. Elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, wallowing hippo, waterbuck, baboon, and even the rare black rhino finds shelter here.
The Maasai share this awesome space with the animals, grazing their cattle in an area that has been a separate conservation area since 1956 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. This harmonious cohabitation of man and beast makes Ngorongoro unique in Tanzania, and your driver guide will be pleased to explain this incredible coexistence to you.

Lake Manyara National Park
Today, we drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day of game drives. This is one of Tanzania’s smaller parks, but it still offers a rewarding and diverse safari experience. The lakeshore at Manyara teems with birdlife, and while looking for the birds, you might spot one of the elusive tree-climbing lions. There are many other large mammals, and the striking cliffs on the Rift Escarpment form a dramatic backdrop.
This tour ends at Kilimanjaro International Airport at 15h30. You can only depart on this day if you have booked a domestic flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport at 17h40 or onwards, or an international flight which departs at 19h00 or onwards.
