Flying From Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park and Game Drive

Early in the morning our professional driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Zanzibar Airport. You'll begin your safari in Zanzibar and take a short flight to the impressive Nyerere National Park previously known as Selous Game Reserve. Our driver guide will welcome you to the Mtemere Airstrip and provide a tour plan. This vast wilderness boasts a diverse range of African treasures, including wildlife, birds, rivers, lakes, and more. Keep an eye out for elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and a myriad of other captivating creatures. As the day unfolds, you'll enjoy a hearty packed lunch and some well-deserved relaxation. Then, the adventure continues with more game drives, taking you into the enchanting African wilderness until the sun sets. Finally, you'll be escorted to your lodge for a delightful dinner and a peaceful sleep by the banks of the Rufiji River where you will get to hear the growls of hippos.

Bush Walk Safari, Village Tour and Sunset Boat Safari

You'll start your day with a refreshing cup of coffee or tea before setting off from the lodge for an exciting walking safari, guided by an armed ranger. The park boasts a diverse range of landscapes, from dense thickets to open wooded grasslands.

Next, you'll venture to an immersive cultural village experience, where you'll gain insights into the local way of life and rich cultural traditions. You'll explore village life, visit schools to see how education is pursued, and soak in the vibrant culture for about 2 hours.

You'll return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch break. At 4 pm, you will embark on a breathtaking sunset boat safari along the majestic Rufiji River. This two-hour cruise offers incredible views of grumbling hippos, sunbathing crocodiles on the riverbanks, and a vibrant array of birdlife, all under the enchanting sunset hues.

After the boat safari, you'll return to the lodge for dinner, and enjoy an overnight stay on the banks of the Great Rufiji River.

Game Drive and Visit to Beho Beho Hot Spring

You'll indulge in a hearty breakfast to kickstart your day before embarking on an unforgettable journey into the vast expanse of the Selous Game Reserve. Here, you'll be greeted by a multitude of elephants, majestic buffaloes, a pride of lions, graceful giraffes, striped zebras, and graceful impalas. Selous is renowned for its high population of African wild dogs, surpassing any other national park in Tanzania.

Our experienced driver-guide will lead you to Beho Beho Chemka hot spring. This oasis boasts a natural spring with warm, inviting waters, perfect for a refreshing swim.

During the day, you'll pause for a picnic lunch, savoring delicious food from a safe vantage point. Here, you'll have the chance to soak in the breathtaking scenery while keeping a keen eye out for wildlife in their indigenous habitat.

Then around 5 pm, your journey will bring you back to the lodge. A delectable dinner awaits then an overnight stay ensures you're ready for more incredible adventures tomorrow.

Maasai Boma Visit and Departure

You'll experience the heart of Maasai culture in Nyerere National Park as you depart from your lodge or camp to visit a vibrant Maasai village. Amid the pristine wilderness, you'll engage in traditional activities, savor an authentic Maasai meal, and gain insight into their sustainable living practices. This captivating cultural exchange is a memorable journey that bridges cultures and leaves you with cherished memories of the Maasai way of life in the African wilderness.

You will later return to the lodge for lunch. Then around 3 pm, you will leave the lodge to catch your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, our professional driver will pick you up and drop you off at any hotel in Zanzibar.
