Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

You will depart from Nairobi and have a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge and have your lunch while relaxing. Later on, you will have your first game drive in the park until the evening.

Amboseli National Park is situated south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lakebed and fragile grassland with patches of acacia woodland, while in the southern area, there are several small, rocky, volcanic hills. Around the swamps of Ol Kenya, Ol Tukai and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. The park is also famous for its scenery with a backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro.

You will have dinner and an overnight stay at your camp.

Exploring Amboseli National Park

Rise for an early game drive and good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit. Seeing elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps must be the highlight of the safari. Breakfast will be at the camp after the morning game drive.

You can go on an optional visit to a Maasai village after breakfast. This visit reveals the singing and dancing culture of the Maasai that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

You can also take a guided nature walk around the camp's grounds or relax and soak in the views. Savor a leisurely lunch at your camp and set out on another game drive in the afternoon, exploring different sections of the park and looking for lions, cheetahs, giraffes and a variety of bird species. As the day winds down, return to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Scenic drive to Lake Naivasha

Scenic drive to Lake Naivasha

You'll depart from Amboseli after an early breakfast for a drive to Lake Naivasha. It is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes with fresh water. The lake is fringed with dense clumps of papyrus (ancient Egyptians once used this to make paper). Kingfishers use the papyrus as a perch, and herons hide in it while searching for food.

Upon arrival, you will have lunch and go on a boat ride experience around the lake. Naivasha is yet another area popular for bird watching (over 400 species have been recorded). It is also a favorite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents who like to sail, water ski, and fish. There are no crocodiles in the lake as the water is too cold for them due to altitude but there are several hippos. Along the lakeshore, vineyards produce grapes for the country's fledgling wine industry.

Return for dinner and your overnight stay.

Wake up early to enjoy a game drive to Hell’s Gate National Park. This is the only park in Kenya where one can cycle or walk while seeing the animals. After the game drive, you return for breakfast before you leave for Lake Nakuru National Park.

The park is known all over the world for its flamingoes. The alkaline lake is recognized as being one of the Natural Wonders of the World. Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, harboring a population of over 40 black and over 60 white rhinos, but the flamingoes, of course, have always been the main attraction. At times there may be almost 2 million flamingoes in residence, forming a stunningly beautiful deep-pink band around the edge of the lakeshore. Arrive in time for lunch then have an afternoon game drive. Your dinner and overnight will be at Lanet Matfam Resort.

It is one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeests, zebras and attendant predators.

You will arrive in time for lunch. Have your first afternoon game drive providing a thrilling introduction to the Mara's remarkable wildlife. The vast grasslands and abundance of animals make it a true safari paradise. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Enchoro Wildlife Camp.

Exploring Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, we have a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The reserve is known for its black-maned lions and its abundant resident wildlife. It is one of the few places where you can see all of the Big Five during a morning's game drive. Cheetahs seek shelter from the hot sun under vehicles and even climb onto the roofs of the vehicles.

For the bird enthusiast, there are almost 500 recorded species. These include 16 species of eagles, hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 species of bustards (including the kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird) and 9 species of sunbirds.

Explore different areas of the reserve, each with its unique charm and wildlife encounters. You might opt for an enriching visit to a Maasai village to learn about their culture and traditions. You can also engage in extra activities at an additional cost, such as hot-air balloon safaris, horseback safaris, nature hikes, bush meals and sundowners.
