Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

This morning, we'll be taking you to the next stage of your safari, but you'll also get to enjoy one last game drive along the way.

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano—quite apart from the altitude—will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor, where a unique wildlife offering adds to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos, and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever. As we go our separate ways, we've no doubt that you leave us with new friends and with so many wonderful experiences that will live long in your memory.

Mto wa Mbu Village Tour - Arusha or Airport

Mto wa Mbu Village Tour - Arusha or Airport

Morning leisure at the lodge; after breakfast, drive to Mto wa Mbu village for a town tour, with the local lunch to be provided at the village.

The bustling farming community of Mto Wa Mbu, located between Manyara and Ngorongoro, is home to around 18,000 people. Spend half a day here with a knowledgeable local guide, and you’ll discover a side of Tanzania that many visitors miss. A melting pot of cultures, Mto Wa Mbu is thought to be one of the only places in Tanzania where there are representatives from all 120 tribes living happily side by side. Although the name translates as ‘Mosquito River’, due to the permanent water source in the village, we fortunately didn’t see many mosquitoes.

You will be dropped off in Arusha town or Airport for your ongoing schedule.
