Lake Natron
Lake Natron is a distinctive and highly alkaline lake situated in northern Tanzania, close to the border with Kenya. The lake's extreme alkalinity and high temperature make it a challenging environment for most life forms. However, it is a breeding ground for flamingos, and it is renowned for its vibrant pink waters when thousands of these birds gather to feed and nest on its shores.
The landscape surrounding Lake Natron is quite surreal, with its arid, desolate terrain, and it offers some fascinating geological features, including the eerie-looking natron formations and the Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano, which is an active stratovolcano. The region surrounding Lake Natron also has a unique, rugged beauty, with opportunities for hiking and exploration.
Later, you will be taken back to Arusha, and our driver will drop you off at the Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro Airport. I hope you have enjoyed your journey and created unforgettable memories with Diana Tanzania Safaris.
