Machame Camp (2980m) – Shira Camp (3840m)
Following breakfast, your trek will lead you to the second high-altitude camp, Shira Camp (3,845 m). This leg of the journey marks your transition out of the rainforest, revealing breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau. While the physical demands of trekking aren't overly challenging on this day, the altitude changes may be noticeable. It's crucial to listen to your body and maintain an appropriate pace for a successful trek. Upon reaching Shira Camp, a well-deserved lunch and rest await. Subsequently, the group will embark on an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp, gaining 300 meters in altitude. Returning to Shira Camp, a satisfying hot dinner will be served.
Shira (at 3840m) – Lava Tower (at 4630m) – Barranco camp (at 3950m)
After an early morning breakfast, you'll transition from the moorland environment to a semi-desert and rocky landscape. Moving eastward for approximately 5 hours, you'll encounter the imposing Lava Tower (4630m). Packed lunches are provided at the Tower, and, weather permitting, hikers have the option to climb this massive formation. It's common at this stage of the hike for participants to begin experiencing altitude-related effects, such as headaches and shortness of breath.

Barranco Camp (3950m) – Karanga Camp (3950m)
Rise early, enjoy breakfast, and embark on the ascent of Barranco Wall (we advise an early departure to avoid crowds). The climb up the gorge wall is relatively straightforward, taking about an hour. Following the ascent, take a well-deserved rest and capture photos against the backdrop of Kibo volcano.
Subsequently, a more challenging trek awaits as you make your way to Karanga Camp. This route involves numerous ascents and descents, but fear not—our experienced guides are adept at setting an optimal pace for the group. Upon reaching Karanga Camp, a hearty warm lunch will be provided. After a brief respite, engage in an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, gaining 200 meters in altitude, before descending back to the camp.

Karanga Camp (3959m) – Barafu Hut (4600m)
Following breakfast, depart from Karanga Camp (3959m). The trail intersects with the Mweka Route, the path used for the final two days of descent. Continuing for about an hour, you'll arrive at Barafu Hut. This marks the last water stop for the porters, as Barafu Camp (4550m) lacks accessible water. Translating to "ice" in Swahili, Barafu Camp is situated on a rocky, exposed ridge. Tents here face exposure to wind and rocks, emphasizing the importance for hikers to acquaint themselves with the campsite before nightfall. An early dinner is served to allow hikers ample rest before the summit attempt later that night. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing on preparing for summit night, and lights out are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Summit Attempt
Under the cover of night, your ascent to Kilimanjaro's summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), commences from Barafu Camp (4,640 m). From a technical standpoint, the climb is relatively straightforward, but the greatest challenge lies in the high altitude. Each pair of climbers will be accompanied by a personal guide throughout the ascent, closely monitoring their physical and mental well-being. Upon successfully reaching Uhuru Peak, there's the option to descend to the nearest glacier before returning to Barafu Camp. Following a two-hour rest, continue the descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).

Following a warm breakfast, the journey leads towards the park's exit: Mweka Gate (1,650 m). As your descent concludes, the entire group will gather to extend congratulations, inviting you to share your insights on the climb in the guestbook. Finally, commemorative certificates will be presented in our office, followed by a transfer back to the hotel.
The following day provides an opportunity for well-deserved rest at the hotel and, if applicable, arrangements for transportation to the airport.
