Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park
Today you will begin your journey to Serengeti National Park, which derives its name from the Maasai word "Siringitu," meaning “endless plains.” You'll understand why the Maasai gave the region this name as you cross the expansive grassland savannah stretching to the southern horizon, interrupted only by unique rock formations known as kopjes—bizarre structures shaped by the weathering of granite outcrops. These plains serve as ideal hunting grounds for leopards and other large cats. You'll have a good chance of observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat as you look out through the open roof of your vehicle.
In the afternoon, you'll reach your destination for the day: the Seronera Valley in the Central Serengeti area. Here you’ll camp in safari-styled tents and enjoy a good meal.
