Day 1

Transfer to Gulu via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Transfer to Gulu via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

You will be picked up from your hotel after an early breakfast and briefed about the 5 days safari before embarking on your journey to Gulu town. Depart Kampala and start your journey. Along the way, you will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You will take a guided walk to the bush in search of these white rhinos. The tracking will take approximately 3 hours or less. After tracking, you will continue with your journey, crossing river Nile and Karuma Falls. Arrive in Gulu town in the afternoon for relaxation and an overnight.

Day 2

Transfer to Kidepo National Park via Aruu Falls

Transfer to Kidepo National Park via Aruu Falls

After an early breakfast, you will depart Gulu and drive to Aruu Fall in Pader district. (About an hours’ drive). While at the falls, you will have a tour around while enjoying spectacular views of the waterfalls and scenic views of the surrounding environment as you enjoy the roaring sounds and cool breeze. You will later depart to Kidepo National Park with a lunch stopover in Kitgum town. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic views of hills that separate Acholi land from Karamoja, beautifully thatched grass houses and cross a few seasonal rivers. Arrive at the lodge for evening relaxation and overnight.

Day 3

Morning and Evening drives

Morning and Evening drives

An early morning breakfast at the lodge and head out for a game drive in Narus Valley in search of wildlife species like the cheetahs, rock lions, caracals, bat-eared fox among others. The permanent water point in the valley attracts large herds of animals to drink and feed. Notable are the large herds of buffalos and chances of seeing the big cats in action hunting and the dwarf crocodiles. On a lucky day, you will also see the rare cheetahs. You will then return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will relax at the lodge in preparation for the evening game drive. You will head out for the evening game drive to catch sight of wildlife that you could have missed seeing during the morning game drive. The park has an observation points with binoculars to help you spot animals afar. Some of the bird species to look out for include Kori Bustard and Common Ostrich. You will then return to the lodge for short relaxation and overnight.

Day 4

Kanangorok hot springs and cultural experience

Kanangorok hot springs and cultural experience

After breakfast, you will make a visit to the Kidepo Valley to see the Kanangorok hot springs along the Uganda-Sudan boarder. The locals believe that the waters of the hot springs contain healing properties as well as spiritual cleansing and therefore it is common to find people immersed in it. Giant ostriches are also common in this place and on a lucky day, you will be able to see some.
While here, you will sit and relax as you boil some eggs and you will also have spectacular views of this untouched wilderness. After this experience, you will visit the Manyattas for a cultural experience. While there, you will have a variety of activities to choose from. These include hands-on in milking the cows, simple hunting demonstration, blood suckling from the cows, thatching the traditional houses and of course participate in the famous Mori traditional dance. You can also purchase locally made handcrafts before you head back to the lodge for an overnight.

Day 5

Transfer to Kampala

Transfer to Kampala

After breakfast, you will check-out and start your journey back to Kampala. Along the way, you will pass through many local villages. You can choose to have lunch with the village people as you learn more about their culture before you proceed to Entebbe for an overnight or to catch your flight back home. This marks the end of your memorable safari with us.
