Pick-up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, you will be met by a representative of Peak Cruise Safaris, who will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or at Kigali International Airport depending on what time you arrive.
He will brief you about your safari and then transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park, depending on the availability of gorilla trekking permits. In case you want to visit the genocide memorial museum, feel free to talk to the driver/guide, he will take you there. Its complementary. You will then travel through a beautiful countryside often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" due to its beautiful rolling hills. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch or stop in Kabale town for Lunch. When you arrive at the lodge and you are not tired, you can visit the batwa people who live in communities around the park. These are the indigenous people from this area, they used to live in Bwindi impenetrable National Park before it was gazetted as a national.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Today is the day you have been waiting for! After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will transfer you to the starting point for a briefing about the gorilla trekking adventure. You will be briefed by experienced rangers/guides and trackers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.

Coming face to face with mountain gorillas depends on where they nested the previous night, and it can take between 2 and 8 hours before you meet them.

Gorilla trekking can be physically demanding, but the whole experience is amazing and worth it. You will track a habituated family which is comfortable with human presence. Once you meet these beautiful and gentle giant gorillas, you will be allowed an hour with them, watching how they interact with their young ones, vocalize and feed.

You will then have lunch away from them in the forest. After lunch, return to the park offices for a small ceremony and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. if you are tired, you can take a boat ride around the islands on Lake Bunyonyi.

Transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, you can go for a boat ride around Lake Bunyonyi if you did not do it the previous day. You will then transfer to Kigali, you will either be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport. You will advise us.
