The next two days of your incredible self-drive safari lead you to the mesmerizing Sossusvlei region. Be prepared to be captivated by endless horizons and towering sand dunes that stretch over the oldest desert in the world - the Namib Desert. Situated on the border of the World heritage site of the Namib Desert and only 38km from the gate to Sesriem and Sossusvlei, your home for the next 2 nights will be the Elegant Desert Lodge. Wake to the multi-colored light of the splendid desert sunrise. Namibia is about magnificent sunsets, while sipping on your beverage of choice, before heading off to unwind around the blazing campfire in our African firepit. You might even be fortunate enough to encounter some of the wildlife coming to quench their thirst at the waterhole a few meters away. Early the next day you will embark on a guided excursion leading into the Sossusvlei. Don't miss the opportunity and climb up those dunes!

Planned activities for today: Early morning departure on a luxurious catamaran from the Jetty at the Walvis Bay Waterfront for a marine excursion in search of the Namibia Marine Big 5: Whales, Dolphins, Mola, Leatherback turtle and seals. While serving hot coffee and tea, the initial route takes you past oyster farms as the catamaran approaches Pelican Point with its landmark lighthouse and 60,000 resident Cape Fur Seals. You return to the Waterfront at around 12h30 and drive back to Swakopmund in your own flexibility.

Prepare to embark north towards the giant wildlife sanctuary, Etosha National Park. Your accommodation for tonight is set on the western side of the park - Hobatere Lodge - a very short distance from the Galton Gate. This lodge in its idyllic setting has earned the nickname of “Little Etosha” due to its location and bounteous wildlife. The drive to the lodge from this point is a mere 16 kilometers, however, based on the road conditions it can take a little time to navigate. This is the perfect opportunity to take your foot off the accelerator and look for the abundant game that inhabit this area while you drive through the spectacular bushveld and riverine vegetation. This rustic lodge will draw you into a setting of tranquility paired with the magic of the African bushveld, where you can dine under a thatched roof or the evening stars, and go to sleep to the roar of the lions.
