Often referred to as the eighth natural wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater stands as the largest intact crater globally. Approximately 2 million years ago, the Ngorongoro volcano erupted, leading to the collapse of its walls. The sunken volcano floor formed a natural enclosure with towering walls reaching 600 meters. Presently spanning over 19 kilometers wide, the Ngorongoro Crater showcases expansive areas of acacia forest, hippo-filled swamps, and open grasslands. Within these diverse habitats reside animals, including elephants, warthogs, flamingos, a variety of magnificent bird species, the rare black rhinoceros, and all the predatory cats. The Maasai people can also be observed grazing their cattle alongside buffalo and wildebeest.
