Fly to Toliara (Fonyala's Sunset)
Get ready to fly to the southwestern part of Madagascar: Toliara. Then, we will drive to Ifaty where a magnificent sunset awaits us in the late afternoon at Fonyala reserve. You will take a walk in the Fonyala baobab forest. Various species of fauna and flora find refuge here. This reserve owes its name to a famous endemic baobab of Madagascar: Andansonia rubrostipa (Fony).

Ifaty- Andravona
After Breakfast, you will drive to Andravona by 4WD. It's a journey of around 130 km. Once there, we'll settle in to the Lodge, inspired by the charm of the surrounding forest and the natural beauty of the lagoon; guests can only risk one thing: discovering an exceptional place.

Discovering the Mikea area
After breakfast, you'll discover a mysterious population hidden within a protected area not far from the lodge. The Mikea forest covers an area of 1,500 km2 and is home to a flora and fauna unique in the world. Three species of baobab, numerous endemic bird species, lemurs... This forest has everything to fascinate. It is also home to a people of hunter-gatherers, the "forest people", who live in close contact with this exceptional biodiversity. The Mikea people are renowned for their primitive way of life. Their image is associated with the legends of the forest spirits.

Andravona to Andavadaoka
Today, this wonderful adventure will reach Andavadaoka. It lies some 48 km away. Along the way, be amazed by the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. The village of Andavadoaka, which translates as "pierced rock", is a group of coral islets, slightly further inland and lined with baobab trees.

Andavadaoka
You are free to spend the day as you wish. You can explore the village through the eyes of its Vezo fishermen. Andavadoaka is an authentic and original place to spend a peaceful vacation by the turquoise sea. Andavadoaka is also a Mecca for scuba diving, thanks to its rich marine biodiversity. The Vezo community relies heavily on the marine environment for food, transport, income and cultural identity. Don't miss out on a pirogue ride and a taste of freshly caught fish in Andavadoaka.

Andavadaoka to Morombe
After breakfast, departure from the village of Andavadaoka for Morombe. The road to Morombe passes through forests alternating with steppes and shrub savannahs. This is where the famous Grandidieri baobabs begin. Morombe is an essential stopover in this coastal region between Tuléar and Morondava, home to Madagascar's most beautiful lagoons, protected by one of the world's largest coral reefs, as well as amazing endemic flora and fauna. It is also an important port for the dhows or sailing schooners that sail between Tuléar and Morondava, as well as a shipyard where they are built by hand using ancestral methods. The shipyard is also a very active collection center for seafood and agricultural produce.

Morombe to Belo sur Mer
After breakfast, departure for Belo sur Mer. It's a real trail stage, with river crossings, sand, stones, dust and much more.
We disembark late morning in Belo sur Mer, a small village of Vezo fishermen and shipwrights, with a long beach and clear waters. The rest of the day is free for a well-deserved rest at the hotel.

Belo sur Mer to Morondava
Morondava is around 4 hours' drive away. On the way, you'll visit the Kirindy Mitea forest reserve. The reserve is known for its exceptional number of endemic species. Among the fauna are the dark red-furred lemur, pink and lesser flamingos, the Vintsy and 90 species of butterfly. As for the flora, over 185 species flourish at Kirindy Mitea, including 3 different species of baobab, which is not very common. At the end of the day, enjoy a walk along the baobab avenue. This is one of the most photographed landscapes in the world, a breathtaking panorama. For some twenty kilometers, these 800-year-old trees follow one another on either side of the road, providing an idyllic backdrop for a photo safari. This day is dedicated to rejuvenating our soul in the heart of these magnificent ancestral giants.

Leisure time in Morondava
Today, you'll take a stroll through the village of Betania to learn more about its people and way of life. Betania is a Vezo fishing village. The village is accessible aboard typical pirogues, not very comfortable and stable, but safe and respectful of the environment. We'll drift along the mangroves - evergreen marine trees that grow along the coast. Then we'll get out and stroll around the village, which is completely closed off from the modern world. You might even see the traditional huts made of mud and Satrana (dried palm leaves). What's more, this island is an ideal place to relax and admire the view over the Mozambique Channel. If you're lucky, local cooks will prepare a unique meal for you, featuring fresh seafood and local delicacies.
Afterwards, you're free to spend the afternoon as you please.

Flight back to the Capital
After breakfast, you'll leave the western part of the country with unforgettable memories and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Antananarivo. After your landing, the rest of the day is at your free disposal. You can spend the rest of your day exploring the local market and shopping for souvenirs from Madagascar. Your overnight stay is at the hotel.

Your journey ends today. Before your departure, you are invited to an informative visit of the Andohalo Photography Museum. Here you will discover the history of the highlands during the royal era. After the tour, you will visit the colourful local markets where you can buy some souvenirs. Finally, you will be driven to the airport for your return flight.
