3-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Trekking

Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

You will depart from Moshi to Marangu Gate for a maximum of 1 hour 30 minutes of driving and then doing necessary formalities like registration before beginning your trek. The hiking trail begins by ascending a beautiful, tropical rainforest. At the upper edge of the forest line, you will have the opportunity to see both colobus and blue monkeys. The trail then widens to expose beautiful hillsides until you reach Mandara Hut.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

You will start the day continuing through the forest passing through Maundi Crater until the trail opens into high moorland. You may get your first views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks —two of the three volcanic peaks that make up the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Then, you'll continue ascent with the moorland zone until you reach Horombo hut.

Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

On your last day, you will have a long trek mostly downhill through the Moorland and tropical rainforest. Once at the park headquarters at Marangu Gate, a vehicle will meet you here and drive you back to the hotel in Moshi for a hot shower.
