Mombasa/Diani/Watamu to Amboseli National Park
Your safari adventure begins early in the morning as you’re picked up from your hotel in Mombasa, Diani, or Malindi. You’ll journey inland through scenic landscapes, rural villages, and the vast open savannah of southeastern Kenya. The drive to Amboseli takes approximately 7–9 hours, depending on your starting point, with rest stops and lunch en route.
By early afternoon, you’ll arrive at Amboseli National Park, nestled at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. After check-in at your lodge or tented camp, you’ll set off on your first game drive. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds and iconic views of Africa’s highest peak, which often appears dramatically at sunset if the skies are clear.
As you explore, keep an eye out for buffalo, giraffe, lions, cheetahs, zebras, and an array of birdlife thriving in the park’s wetlands and open plains. After your drive, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, with the sounds of the African wilderness all around.

Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park
Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park
After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Amboseli as it is a great time to catch wildlife as they’re most active during the cooler hours. This is also your best chance to capture stunning photos of wildlife with Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak in the background.
You’ll exit the park and begin your journey to Tsavo West National Park, a short but scenic drive that takes you through the Shetani lava flows, a stark, volcanic landscape that hints at the park’s dramatic geological history.
Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch and a brief rest. In the afternoon, set out for a game drive with a stop at Mzima Springs, where you can view hippos and crocodiles from an underwater observation chamber and enjoy a guided walk through lush, green surroundings.
Tsavo West is home to leopards, lions, elephants (often reddish from the park's volcanic soil), kudu, and more.
Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and a relaxed overnight stay.
