After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Tarangire, Tanzania's third-largest national park and a sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to 6,000 elephants. Enjoy a game drive with a picnic lunch. After an early breakfast, our safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing and a picnic lunch. After the game drive, we will transfer you to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, where the safari will end.
Lake Manyara National Park covers an area of only 330 sq km (127 sq miles), of which up to 200 sq km (77 sq miles) is made up of the lake when water levels are high. The park is an excellent place for bird watching and a good area to find elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, warthogs, buffalos, and maybe even a legendary tree-climbing lion! At some point during your game drive, you can exit the vehicle at the hippo pool to stretch your legs and observe the hippos.
