Day 1
Start your day early and have breakfast before driving to Tarangire National Park, approximately a 2-hour drive from Arusha. You should arrive by mid-morning, where you can begin your game drive and witness a large variety of bird species and numerous wildlife, especially during the Dry season.
The Tarangire River is a vital water source for animals during the dry months. The park is home to some Big Five and abundant elephant herds. Enjoy breathtaking views while having lunch at a picnic site for one hour, and then continue with your afternoon game drive in the park.
Tarangire National Park covers an area of 2,850km² (1,100km²) and is best visited during the Dry season, which runs from June to February. The rainy season is not ideal for visits. Additional activities available in the park include balloon tours and bird watching. From August to October, Tarangire experiences a mass migration of wildebeest, zebras, antelopes and elephants.
