Day 1

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Arusha to Serengeti National Park

In the morning, our safari guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha. Serengeti National Park is known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the Big Five, which are so named because they are the 5 most prized animal trophies sought after by hunters. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa (roughly 3,000) due to the abundance of prey that lives here. The African leopard is a reclusive predator commonly seen in the Seronera region but is present throughout the park. The park is home to lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, eland, wild dog, gazelle, crocodile, and more. Many birds, including the Eurasia migrants, can be seen. Its population is estimated to be about 1,000.

After the game drive, you will head to your campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

Serengeti is located in Northern Tanzania and is a World Heritage Site with an area of around 15,000 square kilometers. It is home to over 2 million herbivores, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and 500 bird species. This area teems with massive herds of migratory wildebeest and zebras during the Dry season. The Serengeti also supports abundant resident wildlife, including lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, crocodiles, and the rare oribi antelopes.

In the late afternoon, you will drive back to the campsite for an overnight stay.

Along the way, your guide will tell you about the local culture and village life, and explain the surrounding flora and fauna. The views here are truly breathtaking - with some luck, you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is inviting for a refreshing swim, so don‘t forget your swimwear!
