Arusha to Tarangire National Park
During this season, a significant migration takes place as numerous animals move from the arid Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River seeking water. Tarangire, spanning 2,600 square kilometers, is renowned for its abundant populations of elephants and buffalo, along with a variety of other iconic species including lions, giraffes, impalas, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Notably, it's the exclusive habitat of the fringe-eared Oryx. Additionally, the Olduvai Gorge, located 180 km from Arusha within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, holds historical importance as the site where Dr. Louis Leakey discovered the remains of Homo habilis, marking a significant milestone in human evolution. The gorge has also yielded numerous fossils of prehistoric elephants, giant horned sheep, and ostriches. After a game drive in the park, we return to Mto wa mbu for camping.
