Transfer to Akagera National Park

Early in the morning, you'll depart from Kigali (5:00 AM) and drive to Akagera National Park (approx. 2.5 hours). You will check in at the park headquarters for a brief orientation. You'll embark on a morning game drive, spotting elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and more.
In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch in the park lake or a guided boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you’ll encounter hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds.

In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner. Relax under the starry skies. Your overnight stay will be at Ruzizi Tented Lodge or similar accommodation.

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, you will wake up at 6:00 am have an early breakfast, and a scenic drive back to Kigali for a brief city tour or coffee break. You will continue to Volcanoes National Park (approx. 3-hour drive).

In the afternoon, you will arrive and check in to your lodge near the park. You will spend the afternoon at leisure or take an optional visit to the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a taste of Rwandan culture and traditions or visit Ellen Degeneres Dian Fossey.

Later in the evening, you will enjoy dinner at the lodge and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
Your overnight stay will be at Ingagi Park View Lodge, or similar.

Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

At 5:30 am, you will wake up to have an early breakfast and transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters.
You will meet your trekking guide for a briefing before heading into the forest to track the mountain gorillas.
You will spend an awe-inspiring hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, you'll return to the lodge for lunch and freshen up. You'll begin your drive back to Kigali (approx. 2.5 hours).
In the evening, you will arrive in Kigali by evening. Drop off will be at your hotel or Kigali International Airport for departure.
