Your adventure begins at 6:30 a.m. from your hotel in Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, the afternoon boat trip sets sail at 4:00 p.m. and returns at 6:30 p.m. It's a lovely journey that provides a beautiful view of the Rufiji River, filled with hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife. The sunset seen from the boat adds an extraordinary touch to the tranquil river setting.

The Rufiji River, a broad river with several branching lakes, offers a unique perspective for exploring and spotting its notable residents, such as crocodiles and hippos.

For bird enthusiasts, the boat safari is an excellent choice. With over 350 bird species in the park, the river becomes a gathering place for these diverse species, easily observed in the open surroundings.

Feeling adventurous in fishing? The waters here are home to ferocious tigerfish and hefty catfish, providing an opportunity to test your angling skills.

Complete wildlife safari experience at Nyerere National Park

On a full-day safari in the park, a knowledgeable guide will point out the rarest animal species, such as wild dogs, sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile crocodiles, and hippos along the Rufiji River. You'll also spot Cape buffalos, hartebeests, and elands. Take a break for a picnic lunch and drinks in the wilderness before heading back to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam

Have breakfast early at the camp, then go on a morning bush walk to see the sunrise. Walking in the bush is a great way to get close to nature and learn about smaller animals and the environment. The walks last about 2-3 hours and usually start around 6:00 am-6:30 am after having tea and homemade biscuits or doughnuts. After the walk, you'll drive back to Dar es Salaam.
