On the first day, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning to take you to Tarangire National Park where you will do a full-day game drive. Tarangire has a diverse landscape, with nine vegetation zones. Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in Africa) dot the landscape. The Tarangire River that meanders through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife such as elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and a variety of colorful birds. The park is very famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania, and during a safari there you will have the chance to see many families of elephants interacting. You will stop for a picnic lunch in the observatory inside the park where you can see animals drinking water from the river, and sometimes even a hungry lion on the hunt. After lunch, you will continue your game drive until the late afternoon when you head to your campsite for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will leave your campsite and make your way to the crater entrance. From there, you will descend 600 meters (2,000 feet) to the crater floor for a morning game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining rhinos. Supported by a year-round water supply and abundant vegetation, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater and an afternoon game drive before heading back to Arusha.
