Tarangire National Park (2 hours non-game drive hours)

You're almost certain to see elephants and possibly even lions as you join us for a guided game drive through Tarangire early this morning.

You will explore one of Tanzania’s most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants, and big cats. No wonder this ends up being the favorite park in Tanzania for many visitors. Sightings of wildebeests, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys, and zebras are also almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here. Tarangire is home to one of Tanzania’s healthiest lion populations. While you’ll have to work a little harder to see cheetahs or leopards, it will only enhance your excitement when you do. You can also look forward to classic safari scenery—savannah plains, river woodlands, and rocky hills.

When people dream of the Serengeti, it's probably the Central Serengeti they're dreaming of. That's because you're in the perfect place to see all that the Serengeti has to offer, and this is the area of the park where wildlife is present in the largest numbers. It's also filled with acacia trees and those Serengeti horizons that seem to go on forever.

Ngorongoro Highlands Basic Campsite

Ngorongoro Highlands Basic Campsite

This morning we'll be taking you to the next stage of your safari, but you'll also get to enjoy one last game drive along the way.

You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano—quite apart from the altitude—will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor, where a unique wildlife offering adds to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos, and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever.

Day 7

Lake Manyara Np, drop-off Arusha or Airport

Lake Manyara Np, drop-off Arusha or Airport

Lake Manyara National Park will allow you to tick off so many unique safari highlights, including many that you just won’t find elsewhere. Unlike the elephants you’ll see in other parks, Lake Manyara's inhabitants inhabit dense forests; there’s nothing quite like your experience of an elephant suddenly emerging from behind the nearest tree. Also, you’re just as likely to see lions here draped along a branch high in a tree as down on the ground and baboons. There are lots of baboons. The views you’ll see here, too, persist in your memory long after you’ve returned home, thanks to the combination of lake, forest, and sheer cliffs, all within just a few kilometers.

This is when your tour with us draws to a close. As we go our separate ways, we do not doubt that you will leave us with new friends and with so many wonderful experiences that will live long in your memory. We also feel sure that you'll return to travel with us once again in the not-too-distant future.
