Day 1

Arrival in Maun – Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve

Arrival in Maun – Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve

You'll arrive at Maun Airport where you’ll be met by your safari guide. Travelling north-east by road from Maun, you will be transferred to Moremi Game Reserve — Africa's finest wildlife viewing region. Eventually, after having travelled 99 kilometres from Maun, you’ll reach the southern entrance gate of the Moremi Game Reserve.

Upon reaching your private designated campsite, everything will be set up and ready for you— all camping equipment for the trip duration including spacious dome tents with stretcher beds, mattresses, bed linen and en-suite bush ablutions, including a mobile kitchen and dining area. This safari is a non-participation tour where your safari team will carry out all the necessary chores to keep the safari running smoothly. You'll have time to have lunch and relax before going on an afternoon game drive, searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region.

Day 2

Explore Moremi Game Reserve

Explore Moremi Game Reserve

You'll depart early on a game drive which will take you to Xini and Black Pools. These areas are in the southwestern part of Moremi. With seasonal and permanent swamp landscapes, these two areas are home to all major animal species including elephants, hippos, buffalos, wildebeest, impalas, kudu, tsessebe, giraffes, waterbucks, red lechwe, zebras, lions, leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, wild dogs, and more than 500 bird species — including African fish eagle, African skimmer, southern carmine bee-eater, crested crane, sacred ibis, green-winged pytilia, wattled crane, leser jacana, and many more.

Your morning game drive will end mid-morning and brunch will be served after you get back to camp. Brunch is followed by a few hours of leisure in camp. The direction of the afternoon game drive is often determined by what you see in the morning. Sightings worth returning to are visited again.

You'll depart early on a game drive, after a light breakfast. From Moremi Game Reserve drive through to the Khwai area, a picturesque destination that offers endless photographic opportunities for the avid nature lover. The mix of habitats allows endless exploration opportunities, from grassy plains and wetlands to mopane woodlands and open savannahs.

Upon reaching your private designated campsite, everything will be set up and ready for you. You'll have time to have lunch and relax before going on an afternoon game drive. From elephants and giraffes to wild dogs and big cats, you can get up close with wildlife and a variety of bird species that inhabit the area, so this area is also sure to provide an unforgettable experience for those passionate bird watchers.

Day 4

Khwai Concession Exploration

Khwai Concession Exploration

Early morning and afternoon game drives through the area will give you the best opportunity to witness this remote location renowned for offering excellent wildlife sightings. Today, you’ll have chances to spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, buffalos, impalas, kudu, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, and wild dogs.

An afternoon mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursion will take you along a tributary of the Khwai River to view the game from another perspective and experience this mode of transport. You’ll enjoy the views from this unique perspective and spot various aquatic wildlife, including African skimmers, African jacanas, and many more. You will also have the opportunity to venture out on a night drive, focusing on the wildlife that uses darkness to its best advantage.

The Khwai Concession belongs to the local community, under the governance of Khwai Development Trust. The trust ensures the proceeds from the concession benefit the local community of Khwai village.

You will depart early on a game drive. This is your last opportunity to see the more elusive animals not yet spotted over the past 2 days, as you continue to Maun. Your safari comes to an end as you arrive in Maun to connect with homeward flights, or to continue with onward extensions.
